Electrical protection

Maximum heating circuit length

According to local standards and regulations.

Take into account the conductor size and max. permitted voltage drop.

A higher voltage drop can occur at start-up of heating.

Power at start-up

To determine the installed power with the electrical system designer, the nominal current of the series connected fuse or the current value at the system start-up temperature must be taken into account (e.g. 32 A for 55 m ELSR-Ramp (–10°C).

Residual current device (RCD) 30 mA required, max. 500 m heating cable per RCD.

Remark

For the use of standard control cabinets, the maximum heating circuit length of 55 m at 32 A per heating circuit must not be exceeded

ELTHERM
Main Category : SELF-REGULATING HEATING CABLE

ELSR FHP 110°C Self Limiting Parallel Heating Tape ELSR-FHP

Freezing and frost heave may occur underneath the foundations of cooled storage areas. This can result in a deformation of the storage base and can cause severe structural damage to the foundation. The most effective way to prevent these effects from occurring is by means of electrical heating. This specially designed heating cable prevents the foundation from freezing and frost formation by maintaining the temperature above freezing temperatures. A fluoropolymer outer jacket provides durability, good chemical compatibility and ease of installation. ELSR-FHP is suitable for use in hazardous areas

Advantages:

  • Highly robust
  • Suitable for harsh installed environment
  • Flexible mounting
  • Waterproof

Applications:

  • Frost Heave Prevention
  • Cryogenic Storage Tanks

Type ELP-Si up to 200°C Constant Wattage Trace Heater With Resistance Wire

ELTHERM
Main Category : CONSTANT WATTAGE HEATER CABLES

Type ELP-Si up to 200°C Constant Wattage Trace Heater With Resistance Wire

The installation of this heating cable is highly cost-efficient with any kind of heat tracing application thanks to the single end power input. The heating cable consists of a succession of heating zones (length = contact spacing) and can be cut to length in sections of the contact distance to the required length. When cutting into lengths, the heating circuit is interrupted up to the next contact point and this non-active part can be used as a cold lead. During the design phase, one contact spacing length per planned heating circuit must be calculated additionally.

Advantages:

  • Single end connection
  • Can be cut off the roll
  • Constant power output per meter
  • Highly flexible

Applications:

  • Vessels, piping, valves
  • Food processing industry
  • Frost protection and temperature maintenance on pumps, etc.

Type ELP-PFA up to 260°C Constant Wattage Trace Heater With Resistance Wire

ELTHERM
Main Category : CONSTANT WATTAGE HEATER CABLES

Type ELP-PFA up to 260°C Constant Wattage Trace Heater With Resistance Wire

These parallel heating cables offer tremendous flexibility in use, as they can easily be cut to the required length off the roll, with the assurance of constant power output. There is no need for a connecting cable, and input can be unilateral. It is quick and easy to assemble; this saves a lot of time, and as a result reduces cost considerably. Since output of up to 60 W/m is possible for lengths laid to piping, ELP parallel heating cables are particularly suitable for piping with high output requirements, such as in industrial process technology. The particularly temperature-resistant outer shell in PFA and the high level of chemical resistance of the PFA ensure a long useful life.

Advantages:

  • Single end power input
  • Can be cut off the roll
  • Constant power output per meter
  • Long life cycle
  • Laying without exact measuring possible
  • High chemical resistance

Applications:

  • Vessels, piping, valves
  • Building construction
  • Food processing industry
  • Paper industry

Type ELKM-AG-L to 260 °C

ELTHERM
Main Category : HIGH TEMPERATURE SERIES-RESISTANT HEATING CABLES

Type ELKM-AG-L to 260 °C

In series resistance cables, the part that carries energy and the part that generates heat are the same, consisting of a chromium-nickel wire. These cables can be produced with different resistance values and are commonly used for heat tracing in long pipelines. The resistance of these cables is directly proportional to their length.

To prevent excessive increases in current passing through them, there is a minimum length limitation for their use. The appropriate resistance must be selected based on the required length and power. Depending on the required power, temperature values, and environmental conditions, the insulation material used may vary—from PVC to PTFE and even glass fiber for dry locations.

These cables can be used at temperatures of up to 260°C and 450°C, while metal-sheathed, mineral-insulated versions can withstand temperatures up to 1000°C.

Eltherm ELKM-AG-L insulated resistance heating cables provide process temperature maintenance and frost protection to vessels, pipes, valves, IBC’s and tanks up to 260° Celsius.

Applications:

  • Filter heating
  • Hopper heating
  • Parabolic antenna heating
  • Automotive
  • Devices and systems made of metallic and non-metallic material

Advantages:

  • Light design
  • High chemical and mechanical resistance
  • High operating temperature
  • Moisture-resistant
  • High level of flexibility
  • Resistant to steam purging

Type ELKM-AS to 260 °C Series Resistance Polymer Insulated Heating Cables

ELTHERM
Main Category : HIGH TEMPERATURE SERIES-RESISTANT HEATING CABLES

Type ELKM-AS to 260 °C Series Resistance Polymer Insulated Heating Cables

The ELKM-AS series series resistance cables feature a chromium-nickel wire structure where the energy-carrying and heat-generating components are the same. Designed for safe operation at temperatures up to 260°C, these cables can be manufactured with different resistance values and are widely used for heat tracing in long pipelines. Their resistance is directly proportional to their length.

To prevent excessive current flow, there is a minimum length limitation for their use. Selecting the appropriate resistance value is essential for optimal performance and energy efficiency. Depending on required power, temperature levels, and environmental conditions, the insulation material can vary from PVC to PTFE. With its 260°C heat resistance, the ELKM-AS series provides a reliable solution for industrial heating applications.

ADVANTAGES:
