A temperature-dependant resistive element between two parallel copper conductors regulates and limits the heat output of the heating tape according to the ambient temperature. If the ambient temperature rises, the power output of the heating tape is reduced. This self-limiting property prevents overheating even when the tapes are crossed. A temperature limiter is not necessary (also not in hazardous areas). Thanks to the parallel design the heating tape can be cut and installed to any required length. The self-limiting heating tape is available with different power outputs and protective jackets. The protective outer jacket of either fluoropolymer or polyolefin protects the copper braiding from corrosion and chemical impact. Two jackets under the protective braiding provide electrical insulation. The inner one of the two jackets is thermally fused to the heating element (bonded jacket). The heating system must be designed to ensure that the maximum operating temperature of 65 °C will notbe exceeded when it is energized. When it is switched off, the heating tape can be exposed to a temperature of 85 °C, not more than 1,000 hours cumulated.
Self-regulating heating cable, certified for use in all industrial areas with ATEX certification, safely operates at temperatures of 65°C/80°C and can be cut to the required length.
Self-regulating heating cables, also known as self-adjusting heating cables, automatically regulate power output, ensuring energy efficiency. Available in various models to suit different applications and needs, these cables provide a reliable and safe heating solution.

Advantages:
Applications:
This heating cable is designed for easy and safe installation of open-space heaters. Accidents due to frost and snow are prevented all over the heated space. To ensure a high mechanical load capacity in open space, the eltherm engineers developed this heating cable especially robust. Suited for installation in sand/cement mixtures
Advantages:
Applications:
Electrical protection
Maximum heating circuit length
According to local standards and regulations.
Take into account the conductor size and max. permitted voltage drop.
A higher voltage drop can occur at start-up of heating.
Power at start-up
To determine the installed power with the electrical system designer, the nominal current of the series connected fuse or the current value at the system start-up temperature must be taken into account (e.g. 32 A for 55 m ELSR-Ramp (–10°C).
Residual current device (RCD) 30 mA required, max. 500 m heating cable per RCD.
Remark
For the use of standard control cabinets, the maximum heating circuit length of 55 m at 32 A per heating circuit must not be exceeded

Prevent both ice formation and snow accumulation. The system works automatically only when needed by monitoring both outdoor temperature and moisture.
Applications:
The EM 524 series ice detectors are intelligent control devices developed for snow and ice melting systems. These detectors, integrated with moisture and temperature sensors, ensure that heating systems activate only when necessary, optimizing energy efficiency.
Both EM 524 89 and EM 524 90 models have similar functionalities, but the EM 524 90 version offers independent dual-zone control. With its LCD screen and twin LED indicators, it allows users to monitor each zone separately. When frost risk is detected, the system automatically activates heating, preventing ice formation.
This device is compliant with EN 60703 standards and can be easily mounted on a DIN rail. It is ideal for industrial and commercial applications, providing automatic temperature control for energy savings and safety.
Application Areas:
The ETO2 is an intelligent ice and snow melting thermostat developed for hydronic or electric heating systems. This device provides economical control by minimizing energy consumption with the data it receives from temperature and humidity sensors. When snow or ice is detected, the system automatically activates and keeps the surfaces clean. With its energy-saving operating principle, it is environmentally friendly and provides 66% CO2 savings.
Application Areas:
The EM 524 90 is a dual-zone ice detector designed to control ice and snow melting systems in open areas such as roofs, gutters, garage entrances, ramps, and stairs. By analyzing temperature and humidity data from sensors, it only activates the heating system when there is a risk of ice formation, preventing unnecessary energy consumption and saving up to 80% of energy.
This detector features automatic sensor detection, an LCD display, twin LED indicators, and programmable temperature and humidity sensitivity. With a 16A switching capacity, it can efficiently control powerful heating systems.
It can be easily mounted on a DIN rail and comes with factory preset settings for quick installation. Additionally, an alarm output provides warnings in case of system failure.
The EM 524 90 has a wide range of applications, particularly in open areas where ice formation poses a safety risk.
ETO2 is an advanced temperature control unit designed for maximum efficiency in ice and snow melting systems. With intelligent sensor support, it activates only when snow or ice is detected, ensuring energy savings. Its dual-zone control feature allows the simultaneous management of two separate areas (e.g., roof and parking lot). The programmable settings enable customization according to various weather conditions and user requirements. With a 16A relay capacity, ETO2 is compatible with both electric and hydronic heating systems.
